No Camp again this year, I am sticking around the coast to help get things ready for my sisters wedding in August. I am going nuts at the thought of a second summer without camp! But hopefully I will be working at a day camp here, and then off to work for DCL (hopefully) in late August. Then it will be like camp ALL the time!

But I should be starting doing pre camp work some time after my semester is over. I might have a few weeks off. Don't know as of now! Have not gotten heads up from the co directors of the GS camp where I work. But I will see them at next weekends open house.

When I start doing pre camp work setting the camp up sometime around the first of June. Just talked to one of the camp directors on the phone! At the May 23 open house she will defently know the details. So I will have a few weeks off doing nothing during the day which will be nice. Which will probley end up being two and a half weeks. I thought I would start working right after I finished this semester which would have been nice to be making some extra money o well! At least I will be making more then last since I am starting earlier then last year. But I can reflect on last year since I still was in HS.

June 1st many different job tasks from filing to getting camp ready other then tents, pool, archery, boats which other people do including full time Director of Property, Maintenance Supervisor do. Troops have already been campin on the weekends since April.

Living in SoCal, I have discovered LA traffic is just a total nightmare. Back home in Chicago, the highways were only really bad during rush hours. In LA, highways are bad ALL the time. I drove through the outskirts of LA one Tuesday morning at about 10-11 AM, and traffic was just horrid. I learned about the value of carpool lanes during that same trip, incidentally.
Anyway, my friends and I decided that the main problems with LA traffic are that the public transportation system in LA is extremely underused and really not in the best shape to begin with, and all these SoCal folks believe they need their own cars for some reason. I still simply cannot believe how much time I saved just using the carpool lanes, there was an amazing amount of solo drivers! I always thought traffic in Chicago was bad, but it's really nothing compared to the giant mess that is LA!
Sorry for the sidetrack there, I just couldn't resist a few comments.

Hey BOOMIS - do they have rules for who can use the carpool lanes? Its just gonna be me in my car, but I know that like in Phoenix they are only for people with 2+ between like 6-9am and 3-6pm on Mon-Fri. IS it like that in Cali?
ActuallY I dont think the traffic will even bother me cause I will be so excited! Im even burning "California" mix cds with songs all about California... Hmm maybe I should do one for ARizona for when Im missing home? Ya that sounds like fuN!! Ok sorry Im weird today. Vikodin can be bad for you!!
33 more days until I go to camp and that is even a week early than most of the staff, I go early to set up the heath hut, and I don't even stay there at night. Staff training starts in 40 days And 46 more days until the campers arive. I am getting so excited!!

I am not totally conversant with the rules, but I am pretty sure that carpool lanes are for 2+ people 24 hours a day. Like I said I was passing through the outskirts of LA at like 11 AM on a Monday and I know for sure the rules were in force then- and I've had friends who have been out here longer than I tell me they've driven through LA at like 3 AM and there was STILL traffic. I don't know if I entirely believe that, but I didn't believe there'd be a total jam at 11 AM either. So my advice is, be wary! And maybe get a blowup doll to put in your passenger seat.

Just Ducky you should make an Arizona Disc. Getting around Phoenix these days is a challenge in it's self with all of the re-paving on the freeways... I hate it! They close the free ways on the weekends all weekend.. grrrr i hate it!

I can not wait. I just talked to my director yesterday and everything is pretty much set...I am going and I am going to have a good time darn it!
I start pre camp working cleaning the camp monday a day earier then I thought. The Girl Scout Council is closed but camp directors are working go figure.
First I am in two Memorial Day parades the secound one is at 1pm in the little town of Farmindale, NJ which is right next to the town my camp is in so after that is over I will go to camp which is right down the road and I know the first thing in camp to clean is clean all the picnic tables that have spider webs on them in all the units or something else the directors mgiht have me do somethings else depends on when the second parade ends I think. The town is only about one square mile and usually only takes on hour Fun Fun Fun ha ha!
I leave for camp in less then 24 hours and I get to camp Sunday and orintation starts Monday. I will be on this a lot less often for obious reasons but I will try to get on as often as I can. I hope everyone has a great summer at camp and remember "camp is for the campers"

But i get to go backpackin this weekend w/ my camp director, and a group of kids this weekend, leavin tommorrow at 8, man i should be sleepin, but no instead im on here. lol

In the next two week I will be very busy work the rest of this week at camp and have dance classes and church stuff in the evenings and next week work at camp, evenings training for camp and saterday also then dress rehearsals for dance recitals and the week before camp start work all week and dance and church stuff in the evenings and then the weekend before camp starts I have 5 dance recitals. Yes five isn't that crazy
!!!! One for the ballet school I go to which I even have a sole in
and 4 for the dance school I take tap at which I am only in one number and the shows go on for about 2 hours each so alot of time to just sit back and relax and watch the show on close curcit tv.
I will try to check the boards as often as I can in the next few weeks in the evenings and on the weekends when I have time. But have a good summer everyone who is leaving in the next few days. Since I work at a day camp I will not be leaving the boards for the summer just not posting as much since I only have my evenings which I am usually very tired and weekends when I go to the beach etc to my self. So online time is not that much.

Okay, I've been waiting to post on this topic until I had some exciting numbers.
I finished my Junior year of high school today!!! It was quite exciting... and I think I did well on all my final exams.
I have 3 days until I leave for camp now!!!! I haven't packed at all though... hahaa.

This time next wednesday I will be heading out to camp!!! Pre-camp starts next Thursday!!! WOOOOHOOOO! so 7 and 8 days respectively!

I've been emailing my unit leader for this summer- and she has gotten me totally excited for the summer. I worked with her a little last year and loved it- but then she had to leave. She emailed me personally to let me know how excited she was when she found out I was on her staff- it's going to be a GREAT summer!!!

I'm leaving to head up north tomorrow. Camp doesn't start for another 15 days(June 20th), but i'm visiting relatives and the sites before camp
I get to move some stuff out to my cabin in 5-6 days, and move in to stay in 7 days! We have orientation/training for 3 days, then senior citizen days (a cute day camp kind of program for senior citizens, some who used to be campers!), then we have a week of band camp, then we start regular camp (5 week long sessions)! Yaaaaay!
I leave tomorrow morning for a week volunteering at the Church Camp I grew up at. It should be fun, but I won't have internet, so no posts from me next week. Then I'm home for a little over a week before I fly out to NH!

20 days....but in an hour and a half it'll be 19! :-).....still too long n the time jus wont pass fast enough! :-( :-(

On the plus side, it's only 2 days untill my CIT reunion at Cedarledge, and 2 days after that they will all go to pre-camp so I can start wasting stamps on them!!!

5 days! But Thursday I'm going to a CIT/WIT reunion, and Saturday is CPR/first aid training with camp people! Yay, fun!

I'm outta here tomorrow!!! I gotta go take care of my dad's puppy tonight though, their normal dog sitter broke his foot. And I have to clean, and today is CPR day.

First Day of Camp - 6 Days left. I have been working off and on for the last two weeks. Working tomarow hope the directors are not acting too stressed out/crazy!!
19 days for me )-: CIT's go later than everyone else and that week when everyone is there and I'm not is going to KILL me
7 days! I leave to spend the night closer to the airport on Monday and fly out to NH early Tuesday! It's getting close. I should start packing soon.

First Day of Camp - 4 Days left. Setting up camp is getting crazer was at camp workting from 10am till 5:45 and tomarow might take as long to clean one of the trailers just and we have not finised program directors shead and moved toys for daisy unit.
3 more days...I think I am going to start some packing today.

Well I did my pre-camp Walmart run today, so I have everything I need. I am leaving in just four days, but I'll probably hold off on packing a couple more days. It's mostly clothes that have to come with at any rate, I'm a minimalist when it comes to packing.
almost down to 3 days now!!! i'm spending some time w/my family until then...so it's almost like my journey to camp has begun since i'm not home anymore...see you monday boomis!
I am leving on Sunday to go stay with my boyfriends parents since they live closer to camp than I do and will be at camp in the day starting Monday, then on June 27th our staff training starts.

I start on Sunday - everyone else has already been through pre-camp, but I didn't go because I was at my OTHER camp and I've been through pre-camp eight million time. At the moment, I'm trying to figure out if I want to drive up Saturday night, or get up REALLY early on Sunday (I should get there at about 9 am, and it's a three hour drive...)
Today is my 20th birthday! Which means there's only 6 more days 'til camp!

Happy Birthday Linny! According to my camp's website it's 8 days and 18 hours until the campers get there! I get up there on Tuesday! 3 more days (not counting Tuesday)!

Thanks guys! The first foreign counselors have started to arrive at my (day) camp, so my birthday was extra special because I got to see an old friend from Wales six days before staff orientation even begins. It was amazing to walk around camp and meet a few new counselors from Russia, Poland and France who looked absolutely frightened by me. I think I was their first American, and I was glowing and talking a mile a minute to my old friend. I can't wait!
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW! haha it sounds like that scary looking movie that just came out...see you monday boomis! haha yay!

Staff Training starts today for program staff and on Sunday for counselors, so I have to be at camp at 7:00 tonight, I am so happy!!! and I have next weekend off!1

Camp starts today for my camp, but i'm not gonna be there until a week later! I am going to miss the first camp fire.......*(sob). I'm counting down the days until next SATURDAY!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! Meanwhile I'm doing everything in my might to ocucpy myself, making plans with my friends and such.
