Another demagraphic question.
I'm in elementary education in university, but I have a DEC (cegep) in Pure and Applied Sciences. After my first year at camp I realized I wanted to work with children and I just didn't love sciences enough to persue a carreer in them. However, I am now contemplating getting a minor in Biology, but we'll see!
This is gonna be a fun thread to keep on eye on... great poll!
I went with other because my Bachelors is in Biology - which is a "Hard Science". My Masters though is in Arts in Teaching - Secondary Education.
I'm earning both simultaneously.
i'm undeclared. i go to a small liberal arts school and i don't have to declare a major until my junior year. right now i'm leaning towards sociology/social work so that would be in the social science category! lol.
I put education other. I am a speech pathology and audiology major with a minor in exceptional child psychology and I will have teachers certificate. I will work with children but probably younger then elementary age. I want to work with children under 5. But the degree could also be looked at as health care because I could work in a hosipital if I wanted to.
Major in psych, minors in studio art and English. Graduating this year, and hopefully doing a 1 year bachelor of education program next year.
I got my undergraduate degree in English last year, and right now I'm pursuing teaching certification for English on the secondary level, and eventually an master's degree in that!
Im pursuing a BA in social work
I put Recreation related. But my AA will be in Liberal Arts when I graduate with my associates degree. Taking all my general edu at community college. Back to studing for intro to political science. Wish me luck.
BS in Psychology... Minor in Theater right now (although I might drop out of that because the Theater chair/professor hates me and therefore I'm doomed to fail in the theater classes, but that's a different story)
hmm since I'm not in college yet my major is up in the air..but I'm leaning towards the recreation field.
Other as well.
Undergrad and Masters in Tourism and Recreation.
i am an audiology major with a sign language minor
I am double majoring in Recreation and Biology, and minoring in Spanish.
Haha I love my catagory; Hard Science. It makes me sound like some kind of addict or somthing. I guess you have to be a little off your rocker to major in a lab science though. I'm a Geology major, and I love it. I live in Washington State, so we it's a prime environment for my study. Hey! I have to go get ready for lab right now actually.
I'm in Child Studies in cegep (college) and it only prepares us for the actual university courses! Pretty much, the government wants our money so they decided to make my program a 2 year pre-university course! BOO!!! BUt seriously, the people rock and the work is wayyy to easy whenever I have work lol! GO Child studies!
Hey BugSpray, do you go to UPS? Washington is really a prime place for anything outdoors. I am still loyal to my home state of Oregon, but I really love it here, too! (I'm in Spokane at EWU)
I'm a rec management major, possibly doubling in counseling/educational psychology.
I'm a double major in Studio Art and Mass Communications.
Rock-it. I DO go to UPS. I LOVE it here so much. Actually, our Leadership specialist form last summer goes to your school. Anna Moore (actually she just got married, but I don't know what her married name is). She's a flute performance major, so her camp name is "Treble". I mean obviously I don't expect you to know her because there are a lot of students at EWU. I mean if you knew someone at UPS there is a good chance I would know them too because we're so small hahaha. And yes; this is a great spot for geology.
Haha, I have a few friends at UPS. My friend Torri is (was?) a bio major. She and I worked at a camp together in Gresham.
Also, my friends Joe G, Joe C, and Cameron all go to UPS. We all went to high school together, way back when.
I major in both Philosophy and History, just FYI my university does not count Philosophy as a humanitites and History is a science.
My major is Recreation Management with an experiential education concentration. My minor so far is going to be in Psychology
Environmental Policy.... its a mix between social sciences and poly sci
I put other because right now I'm doing a few general education credits as a precursor to my application for a child and youth work degree program, which will allow me to work with kids basically in any therapeutic milleu.
I am pursuing an BA in English.
film im a little crazy but i love the movies and making them
I've started a Biology major but I think next year I am going to start taking some education classes as well and might eventually lean towards becoming a science teacher. I love kids too much to do something that doesn't deal with them!
I am a Recreation major with a concertration in summer camp administration
I have a major that has nothing to do with camp...I am a English major focusing on Editing and Publishing with a minor in Information Evaluation and Research.

Mine is a Joint Honours in Geography and Information Systems, so wasn't sure which category I came into! I'm going on to study Secondary Geography Education in the Autumn.

im studying prosthetics and orthotics in glasgow scotland i only have one more year to go yehhh- not that i hate the course its jsut that cant wait till i work
When I first started college I was a Social Work Major planning on a minor in Recreation. Now, I don't know if that kind of program is available where I'll be finishing up my degree, so my major will be Social Welfare with a minor likely in Sociology.
My bachelor's degree is a BA in Theatre, and my master's will be Educational Theatre and English... so in two years, I'll be able to teach Theatre to K-12, and English to 7-12.
My degree will be in recreation and I will be able to work at a camp year around
My degree will be in recreation and I will be able to work at a camp year around
BS in Family and Consumer Sciences, option in Family Services. I'm more than half way done (I have about a year and a half left) then I'm gonna get MS in Facmily and Consumer Sciences
I just graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Ed. and I start my Masters in the fall in Exceptional Student Ed.(ESE). So, still more school for me.
My major is middle grades education in Language Arts and Social Studies. I selected Secondary Ed on the poll, though this doesn't really cover what I'm doing. Middle school is such a unique age -- it's very little like teaching high school!
Secondary Education...eventually when I am done with school I would like to teach High school Physical Education (P.E.) I say eventually because I am taking the next school year off to Teach Outdoor education to 5th graders. (yay for science camp!!!)
