What does everyone do on their days off ?

depends on who has cars etc - sometimes we hang around camp or go for food - or go to local staffs homes - head into boston - it really just depends!

well, I usually end up going home, but I am hoping to change that this summer! However, no matter where you go, laundry, showers, and sleep are essential!

nice!!! we have a really nice laundry room with like 4 washers and 4 dryers and it is free, but we have to do it ourselves! Then again, campers don;t do laundry there since it is only 1 week. This is not ot say camper laundry doesn't get done there! We definitely get the soiled sleeping bag or underwear and pjs!

At my camp, everyone has the same days off, so it is very nice. We usually go out to dinner, go to the movies, see nearby attractions (especially for the out of state and international staffers), and everything in between. But, the biggest thing is that we just relax and hang out at camp. We do tons of sleeping, swimming in the pool, showering, and just relaxing to make sure we are ready for the next week. We also sometimes go to locals houses for dinner or to see a movie.

Do not be too worried about what you will do. As a group (if that is how your TO works), you will find something wonderful to do. Additionally, you will be too tired most of the time to do anything too exhausting. Just relax and continue the friendships.

I guess I have never really experienced a weekend at camp since the one weekend I stayed (I was only on staff for 5 weeks last summer) was the last regular weekend so all the staff went home or to the end of summer party at a counselors place but my friend and I stayed at camp and had a sleepover in the staff house! haha It was amazing!

I am not going to deny it, but the weekends are probably my favorite part of camp. Every second I am with the kids, I am in heaven and it is perfect. Yet, the weekends are just a blast. Because there are no kids, and you can just hang out doing amazing things with your new best friends.

Pulling pranks is one of the best ways to spend TO! Also emailing or calling home!

Of course, I take the time to call my friends at home and call my parents. I really do not like calling home. Not because, I get homesick or anything- I am not close to my parents, so calling home is sometimes really werid. But regardless, I call my friends and catch up if possible. I try to use the internet more than calling because it is long distance. Also, check email and just do nothing. Doing nothing rocks.

I have my cell phone and nationwide calling, so that is awesome! My parents are paying the bill anyway, might as well use the minutes I have when I can! haha, I really don't use it too much. Email checking is awesome too! and doing nothing! I think I am going to take up some of Thoreau's ideas and find a spot and just sort of sit in nature and observe and think and such. Clear my mind, look at nature! It will be awesome!

I love doing that. I have a favorite spot at camp that I could go and spend an entire day there. As much as I adore my camp friends, I love spending time alone in nature. I go to my favorite spot (that no one I think knows about), bring an ipod or book and just relax. It is so relaxing. I sometimes bring my phone, just in case someone needs me, because I would be way out of shouting distance, lol!

cool cool! I don't know that I have a favorite spot in camp yet, at least one that isn't always so populated. I love looking out off of the deck over the lake when no one is swimming and it is so peaceful! However this is our dining hall deck and people are always wimming or playing in the meadow or whatever, so it isn't so peaceful in the summer!

i havent been to my camp yet so idk what my fave spot is yet - i guess i'll find out

I always take cadbury and galaxy with me to camp and have my mother mail me some!

I like HGershey's, but then again, that is kind of what i grew up with. I love other chocolate more, like Milka and Kinder and Ritter-Sport (German chocolates!), but I am just fine with Hersheys because it is chocolate! Yum!

I am a unit leader and teach archery - usually end up swimming and kayaking loads each week too - cos I always go in for free swim, flaoting lunchs and when we go boating!

im a cabin counsellor so im hopeing y=that ill be running around a lot

I love the fact that at GS camps we have staff cabins! YOu can have soooooo much fun in the evenings after the kids go to bed without worrying about waking the girls!

I am saying I am unit leader but until my contract arrives I wont know for sure!

yeah me too - but the time I was alone - I was doing day camp on a res camp and the other 3 staff assigned those sessions were males so couldn't live with me!

4 - 3 GS and an episciaplian(sp?) - 01 - GS in New Hampshire, 02 - Episcipalian in Deleware, 03 & 04 GS in Rhode Island, 07 & this summer a different GS camp in NH!

First camp there was an incident and I wasn't happy with how it was dealt with, the second one i just wasnt happy there and the 3 third I had been away for a few years and my friend (from my first camp) wanted me to work with her so that is what I did and hence ended up at my 4th camp!

Actually at my first camp I loved it until, and even after that incident - i just wasnt prepared to go back and be punished for other peoples misdeeds!

Most people love the camp they are at unless they are there for the wrong reasons!

not too bad really - party with alcohol on camp during a session break - alcohol wasn't allowed on camp and those involved didn't have the intergrity to come forward so the entire staff was punished and I objected to that - if it wasnt for the fact that there were only 3 weeks left of camp I would ave called CA and had them find me a new camp!

if you want alcohol go away and not on camp grounds im pretty sure its not hard to find a spot where they could of gone!

exactly - what made it worse is the fact that camp knew that i was LDS so dont drink and I had proof that I was off camp!

Well it wasnt a small group it was half the staff but even soo we had proof but never that is in the past - i went back and visited that camp last summer and it seemed it much better!

sleep, wash, laundry, pack, eat...

I also like going off camp and doing fun stuff like going to walmart if it is a 6hr break or session break!

yeah, I like going to Target on my TO! Make money and then spend it all! At least that is how it seems! haha

I wont be doing that this year - need to save it all for my trip to Utah after camp!

sleep, get out of camp, shop, swim, hang out, watch tv, internet, pretty much anything that doesn't involve children, lol (don't get me wrong, I love them, but time off is away from them usually)

Every year I try to keep a journal but am usually failing at it by the end of pre-camp!

lol i always do them when i go away so i hope i can keep up with it!

i met one of my american staff yesterday through the guy who got me at the camp im going to, and he was telling me all about camp and was like oh they do heaps of day tours with people to boston and newyork and i got excited.
