another smoking question: should staff take smoking breaks on top of TO or should it come out of their TO?

Out of their TO is how we have always had it. If it was on top of TO, I'd consider taking up the habit.


Does your camp pass out counselor meds with camper meds, or at a different (more private) time?

Drag them to the troop house (where the medical centre is). So long as it fits in with the drug schedule.
I would also have no smoking on site and they would take it out of their TO. I put up with enough of the extra 10 mins here and there where the non-smokers have to put up with extra work!

I'm I pissy or not?

Not - I know exactly how you feel! I had problems with people who had to take it from their TO so would take one hour broken up into 4 15 min breaks and sometimes that would last 30 mins or more cos they just had to take a shower or check their emails!

deleiver SB gifts during TO or go over late at night/early in the morning?

whenever you can, maybe even mix it up a bit! Heck, sometimes we drop the thing off in their mailbox in the staff room on our way to or from something and have our campers stand outside for that 30 seconds! Hey, if you have the same TO and you never know if they are in the staff room or their cabin, you do what you've gotta do! Plus then they can't rule out certain people based on TO!

I would say off camp for the smoking thing and on their TO. If they want to make themselves unhealthy, do it away from me! I hate uni enough because everytime I walk to and from classes I am either following a smoker or have to walk through their cloud of smoke. I figure I have lost a few hours of my life already due to unwanted second-hand smoking (based on the fact that 1 cigarette takes 7 minutes off the smokers life, and more off of a second hand smoker's since they don't get the filter) I also don't think it would make sense for an outdoorsy camp to support the unhealthy habit of smoking by giving only the smokers extra time to do so.

As for the smoking thing...I smoke when I'm not at camp and quit/only smoke on my days off (not time off, you smell really bad after a cigarette) but I fiend like a crazy person during training after that I'm fine.

At Kick asthma holidays if you smoke you have to change your top, wash your hands and use mouth wash/brush your teeth/chew gum before you can return to the kids!
