secret???? never done anything like that but secret would be more fun - but I would say secret from the campers not the staff

when children get mail - should it be a mail call were you just call out the names of the kids who got or something more sutble like putting it on there beds before me time/rest hour?

Yes Smudge Olympics were a secert from campers and counselors-- AD staff like me kinda knew when it was coming-- the campers knew the AD staff knew so later on into the session the campers would keep bugging me and all I could say was that olympics will happen before camp ends. The breakoput was cool but the mask I was wearing for it -- I had a hard time breathing though it and I had a hell of a time seeing because I kept fogging up my glasses

ANyhow mail call-- letters should be done during rest hour and packages during dinner because parents use different methods ( Post office, Fed Ex, UPS) to get packages to camp. That way by dinner all the packages should be at camp and the waiter/waitress campers can deliver them to the kids and the staff can sing for theirs.

If they called out the names of the campers at my camp it would take too long-- 270 campers 1st session-- there would be days it would takes too long to do that.

counsellor hunt - cos you can have a movie night at home

night off - go to the drive in or to the mall (food with both is a given!)

I would choose Target-- I have a target charge card to tie me until a camp payday

for campers-- allow them to have a digital camera or not

I would be inclinded to say not - but they again you can have just as many problems with disposables if they arent marked with names

always carry a sharpie for writing names on disposable camera at camp or think it is a tad OCD

Auctally I would perfer if parents would make sure it had the campers name before coming to camp but I would say always carry a sharpie

This past summer we didnt have issues with cameras and most had digitals and it never got lost/damaged.
