I'm really not sure how Smudge knew about said beetle and I didn't. Weird.

Just throwing that out there.
I hear there are good sheep in New Zealand \:\)

You're thinking of emus, I think! I saw some wild ones in Australia, and they didn't seem too mean. They didn't attack anyone, anyways! Kiwis are small and flightless, a little more like quail, I think.

LMAO.
I couldn't remember if kiwis were big or not. We have a lot of Ostrich farms around here and they will kill you. Those people who say they stick their head in the sand to avoid confrontation have never met a New Jersey raised Ostrich. \:\)

Lol kiwis are small brown birds, like a quail I spose! They are small, not really emu like lol. In New Zealand we call the fruit version 'kiwifruit', but everywhere else in the world they are just called 'kiwis'... possibly explaining the confusion.

Emus and Ostriches are nasty... I've heard stories. They sound like the hippotamus of the pastures

yeah, kiwi's are small little round puffballs with long beaks and actually don't even have wings or arms or anything. very nocturnal - and a little larger than a softball in body size.

Emus and Osriches are very territorial thus they come off as being so agressive - they don't stick their heads in the sand to avoid confrontation or at all even. they do however eat small pebbles to help with digestion.

just realized how nerdy I look for knowing about these birds haha

Hey... you never know... the bird might taste nice too. \:\)

At our local six flags we have an animal safari park. Its like 800 acres of land with all of these animals from all over the world running around. They separate the difference continents or areas by fences so no one gets mixed up, and the predators are clearly separated by a much taller fence. The animals that wont eat you or trap you in your car are just allowed to run around there is no fencing by the road since the speed limit is like five anyway and they have guards armed with tranquilizer guns at the borders between areas. So anyway we're driving along and this ostrich just sits down in the road in front of us. And my dads inching up on it trying to make it get the idea that it needs to move and it's just giivng him a nasty look and staying right where it is. So my dad sneaks up a little closer and my mom's going 'Tom, you're going to hit the ostrich' and my dad's going 'No I'm not, it'll run away...' and then all the sudden the ostrich starts flapping it's wing wildly and squawking. The whole car was shaking like we were in a huge earth quake. My little cousins are shrieking and crying, my brother and I are laughing hysterically, my mom is hitting my father and my aunt being the lovely easy going woman she is grabs a feather that had flown in through the window and goes 'Look kids! Ostrich feather!' and my cousins stop crying and look at her like she's crazy for like a split second and then start shrieking even louder. So when the thing finally runs away my dad drives up the the guards and tells him what happened and the guard goes 'You prolly just got his toes, damn things do that all the time and they're always surprised when someone rolls over their toes'
and it caused something like 1500 dollars worth of damage to a company car. my dad told them that it was skateboarders that did the damage.

Precamp will end on Saturday morning, June 5, like it normally does!

I saw an ostrich trying to pick a fight with a young giraffe at the zoo! It was pretty funny.

Do you think I might be able to leave a couple hours early if I get my business done? There are some auditions up in St. Louis that I want to get to at 12 on the 5th.

E-mail Brooke and Smiles about it! You can cc me too if you want, but I haven't gotten a list of when who's requesting off yet (or maybe I have, and I've forgotten). I think I remember somebody else asking about that, too.

Just make sure you get Manor in great shape, and it shouldn't be a problem, I would guess!

Brooke just e-mailed me with 4 new staff members (American)! I invited them all both here and to the Facebook group. She gave me the wrong e-mail address for Rosethorn's friend, but I'm sure Rosethorn can take care of that! So I'm pretty excited about that.

I have less than 2 weeks before I move in, and I'm starting to freak out just a little! But mostly I'm SO excited! I think this will be an awesome year.

Talked to Brooke, and she said we are getting out of precamp on the 4th. Woot!
Dana decided on a camp name. She's gonna go with Scout. \:\)
Ran into Giggles on campus today, and she is super pumped to get started with the season!

I saw (on my many times sitting in Council's lobby waiting for Brooke) that Giggles recently got her gold award! I'm glad she's coming back.
