This weekend I went through all of my camp stuff and made a few lists of what I needed to buy and what I needed to find. Through this, I realized that I need to get another pair of sneakers for camp. Does anyone know of a website or somewhere that I can get a cheap pair that would be good for camp... a pair that doesn't fall apart. I'm a big fan of Nike and New Balance, but it's always tough to find a good/cheap pair.

Also, I'm looking for a good face wash that is camp friendly. Right know I am using Skin ID. I like it, but it has too many steps for my camp mornings and nights. Does anyone use a face wash that is quick and easy for those mornings you just roll out of bed?

If anyone else has packing questions, we can post them on this thread now. \:\)

I am a big fan of Dove and Simple (not sure if that is a brand you have over there) - as they are quick and easy to use! Baby wipes also work \:\)

I used baby wipes one summer, but they made my face break out. \:\( I usually take a pack just in case, though.

umm, I sometimes use neutrogena or clean and clear but to be honest I probably didn't use it enough to really figure out if thy were great or not. at least one of those brands have these cool scrubby pad facecleaners where you just add water and there's a scrubby side and a smooth side. Then you don't need a wash cloth! Problem is that they are probably more expensive, but great for a quick wash or if you don't have a washcloth. I don't know for sure their price because the last time I bought some I didn't even think to look at the price (I've got a problem with not looking at prices since I figure I'm gonna buy it anyway)

As for the shoes, my pair that I have now for camp isn't working the best for me but that could just be because I put them on without untying them first...

At target they have a few different brands of facewipes. Neutrogena makes some but you need to rinse. There are also these (http://www.target.com/Boots-No7-Quick-Thinking-Wipes-pk/dp/B000PSTJ4K/ref=sc_ri_1?ie=UTF8&node=699037011) by boots and i love boots so I would think they'd be good. Biore, Olay and Soap and Glory also make them but the soap and glory ones are lotion infused or something. I have acne prone skin and those weren't great.

As for the sneakers, Try DSWs clearance room, they almost always have a few pairs of nikes, addidas, new balance, or roos for 30 to 80 percent off.
ALso try ebay... there are two pairs of nikes on the less than 10 minutes left page going for 8 bucks and 7 bucks...

I've been considering trying to Boots ones for this summer along with baby wipes for quick washes of everything else (since I've been told we'll probably be on tight water/shower rationing). I've used the double sided Aveeno scrub ones in the past, and they're great, but you do need to rinse afterwards. They make ones both just as a face cleaner and with anti-acne stuff.

I'm still trying to decide what to pack into this summer. I might just take a rolling suitcase thing up for staff training and then see what everyone else is using.

And I still have to pick a camp name!

This will be my first summer with one, though I've had nicknames at camp before. I'm still trying to decide. I'm definitely thinking of going Harry Potterish with this. Maybe Ginny, since I love the character and have some red in my hair.

What about Ariana? That was Dumbledore's sisters name.
Or Arnold, after Ginny's Pygmy Puff... or Molly because Ginny's mom is awesome. I LOVE HP \:\) and Ginny is my favorite character \:\)

I guess I won't be able to help you come up with names then as I have very basic knowledge of HP. I saw the first movie twice though probably really only once and saw the first part of the 5th one. I've never read the books. However, it is fun to think of names that I might be if I chose my name now. I love my name, but during precamp when we are helping some of the staff pick names I always start thinking of names that would be awesome to have.

Last summer I used a face wash that was a Wal-Mart brand, and I loved it. I looked for it a couple of days ago, but it wasn't there... so sad. I'm going to do some checking around this weekend to see if I can find something, I'll look into your suggestions. \:\)

That's a good thought! I could use Moony. Or Padfoot. I've also thought about using Hedwig. I'm so indecisive on this.

How about Newt, Luna or Crumple-Horned Snorkack.

If you decide not to go with a Harry Potter name check out http://summercampprogramdirector.com/over-350-camp-names for a list of over 350 camp names.

I love Harry Potter. I do a week long Harry Potter camp every year. Luckily, I don't have to come up with a camp name for that week since the campers call me Professor. Just don't go with Death Eater and you should be fine.

When do you guys start packing? Cuz I've already noted some stuff I need to pack but I'm not sure exactly what to do with it, should I just throw it in a duffel in my brother's old bedroom (now the rooms of dusty gameboys and 10 year old laundry piles) or... i dunno. How do you pack in other words?

SOme of us start like a month in advance, some like 2 days before we leave. Generally I start making a list at least by the time I get home from school (about 1-2 weeks before camp) of things i need to buy. I've already got things in the guest room at home in my 3 drawer thing that I only use at camp. Here at school I've already got a bin of straight to camp stuff so I don't have to worry about making sure I go through all my stuff to make sure I've got all my camp stuff that was at school with me.

I start throwing things in a pile or something probably about the time i get back from school but I don't end up actually getting much into where it needs to be until the night before I leave.

Awwww..... I'd LOVE to do a weeklong Harry Potter camp! I ran one with my Brownies one year, but it was only a weekend. I was Harry, the girls reasoned that it was because I wear glasses :P

That's certainly a good reason for you to be Harry! ;\) hehe

As fun as they are for all th ekids and staff, I'm completely and totally sick of Harry themed weeks. Sure we call it something to do with wizards, but that's just to be inclusive and whatnot! I am not a fan of Harry Potter. Sure it's a fine set of books and movies but it's just not my thing. So I will participate in the stuff because the kids love it, but we've been doing Harry week once a summer for as long as I can remember and I'm just kinda getting sick of them. Granted they are pretty easy to come up with activities and wardrobes and such so that's good. Oh well, I'll have to put up with it this summer at least and who knows what will happen at my new camp. Plus we've got some good themes coming up this summer too so I'm really excited. I just hope i won't be in DC the week of the Dr. Suess theme. I've got a hat, and like soooooo many books and a craft and probably more things. But since we plan our DC and res themes at different times our DC didn't come up with this theme so it's only res camp. so cross my fingers!!

Chenoa used to (not sure what programs it is offering this year so dcnt know if it still does!) run a 2 week HP program!

When I was at uni I didnt start packing until about 2 days before i was due to fly out but that was cos i didnt live at home and I usually got home about 4 days before I was due to fly out - and needed a day to unpack my uni stuff and do laundry etc! The last 2 years however I started a pile of stuff in the spare room about a month before I needed to actually pack!

Usually about a month before I leave (I did this a couple of weekends ago), I go through all of my camp stuff. I do a load of laundry and I check everything. I toss stuff that I know that I will not need and I order more uniform if I see I need to. Usually it takes about two weeks for orders to be delivered, so I figure a month ahead of time is good. I was lucky this year, I only had to order two more pairs of shorts and that was it. Checking my stuff this early is also good, because it also gives me a chance to price some stuff like sneakers.

Last year I started offically packing about a week before I left. Though in the past I have done it the night before. I use the camp provided packing list to double check to make sure I have all of the basics. Then I add my personal stuff later. I was glad I started a week before I left because as I was putting everything together, I realized my swimsuit had a huge hole in it! That week gave me plenty of time to go to Dick's and get a new one. I wouldn't have had the time if I waited until the night before.

Munchy, we do have a few week-long sessions of a Harry Potter-theme! You never know! \:\) They started that program last year, and I was out of the country, so I don't know a lot about it. But I hear it was a whole lot of fun!

Teenster do you have to pay for your own uniform? Or is it just a case of ordering your uniform so that it is there ready when you get to camp?

We have to pay for the bottoms. We get all of the tops (2 navy shirts, 6 white shirts, 1 navy long sleeved, 1 navy sweatshirt, 1 white tank top). You can order bottoms through camp or another website. The bottoms have to either be solid white or solid navy. You can wear shorts or sweatpants, it doesn't matter.

I order my bottoms through another website. It's a little cheaper and the selection is better. Though, I have to be very careful with logos. The bottoms can't have any stripes or logos. You can bring extra tops, like if you want another sweatshirt, but that also has to be logo free or you can order an extra through camp. If you order through camp you can have it sent to camp, so it's there when you get there, or you can have it delivered to your home.

That is cool! I guess it must be a challenge finding stuff that doesnt have stripes or logos on it without using the camps service or the other website - i remember when i was at Hoffman it was always a challenge for me finding green shorts of a length that i was happy to wear (ie - that werent really short!).
