Does any other camp do unit plays?

Ours, during the second session get the chance to go up and perform for the whole camp, with a couple of lines to say each and a couple of dances to do. This year, ours was James Bond, which the kids loved. The only downside was that when it rained [frequently!] they sometimes stuck on a JB movie: I never want to see one ever again! \:D

no we dont really have plays at my camp, ee our camp. campers only usually stay for a week maybe two at most so thee really isnt alot of time to get a whole play rehearsed and what not. we do do skits tought for out opening and closeing campfires (along with songs of course) the opening campfire is mostly the staff preforming for the camp and the closing is staff and some troops that are interested in doing a skit, but thats the extent of our preformances

We don't do unit plays. We have a few classes that do a major camp play, a camp musical, and a shakespeare performance. These are all four week classes. There are two week plays/theater performances as well. Kids need to sign up for the plays in order to be in them.

We don't do unit plays either b/c the campers only stay a week.

We do however have a session called "Spotlights On" for 5th-7th graders who plan and preform a play.

Our camp has an entire "Costume Closet", with tons of dress up clothes so we often bring our units there to play around and do little skits for each other. If they are good we might have the campers preform their skit at the closing campfire.

We have a play-like Arts Festival every summer. The staff spends about two weeks writing a 4 scene play, making costumes and planning out activities centered around the theme (This year is was Scooby Doo). On Monday morning when the kids arrive, the camp is completely transformed and the kids are always completely surprised. The staff does a 10-minute scene from the ''play'' first thing in the morning, once before lunch, once after lunch, and at the very end of the day before the kids go home. All the counselors who are not in the play still dress up (we all got to be hippies and ghosts... awesome!) and the camp looks completely transformed. It's one of the most memorable days of the summer.

We don't have unit plays but we have plaques on the playhouse wall from the 60s and 70s that show that we used to.

Each session has one play that whoever wants to be in it can and then the 7 weekers have a play if there is enough interest.

since our kids are in camp for 7 weeks, each age group does their own play. all of the girls have to be involved w/their age group's play somehow, whether it be acting or being on the crew or making costumes or turning the pages for the piano player. the boys have the choice of whether or not to be involved since drama is less popular among them. here are the plays we did this summer:

3rd/4th graders: the little mermaid
5th graders: alice in wonderland
6th graders: peter pan
7th graders: a broadway musical review
8th graders: bye bye birdie
9th/10th graders: west side story

all of the plays were really cute, as usual. the 8th graders, doing bye bye birdie, were the funniest! and west side story was great!

The first four week session there are two different plays-- one for lower camp (K-3rd grade) and one for upper (4th-9th). The second session play this summer was Annie, and it involved the entire lower camp, and any upper campers that wanted to be in it. So cute!!! The little ones were adorable singing Tomorrow...

This year the Teen program's play was all three Lord of the Rings, was very good! They got one of the counsellors to go into the woods, dressed as Gandalf and filmed him doing the narratery bits was very cool!
