Is it your experience that it would be helpful if you had additional medical information for some campers -- perhaps copies of clinical records or test results?

Yes, this has been helpful for some campers with chronic conditions. It's been provided by the parents generally; a couple of times, talking with parents before the child is at camp, I've suggested they send this information.

The camp I work at during the summer has the req. that each camper have a completed Health History signed and completed by both the parents and the family doctor. They also have to have Standing Orders from the doctor to give them any medications either over the counter or prescriptions. Having the health history is a big help when a camper gets sick or injured because you have thier complete healh history and potential problems. It also gives you a history of their immunizations to satify the state DOH requirements.

Can you tell me how long you retain those medical records that you collect for each camper?
