Hi all!
I run a downtime activity called "SHOW". Here the children come to sit and watch counselors do crazy things as well as participate.
I have tried spelling bees, helping hands activity, group dances like the chicken dance etc.
I am having trouble thinking of things to do to keep them entertained. The downtime period is for 1st through 5th graders and lasts from 30- 45 minuets. Any ideas would be very helpful. I have been doing this for 3 years and my ideas are very stale. Thanks!!!!!

Try "are you smarter than a 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th grader?" Have kids answer questions that they would know according to their grade level and staff answer matching but ridiculous questions.

5th grader is asked "What is the area of a square that is 2 inches by 2 inches?" "4? Correct!"

Staff is asked "What is the color of a square that is 2 inches by 2 inches?" "Blue? WRONG. The correct answer was that it is an invisible square and therefore has no color."
