Hello everyone. I have worked for residential camps for 4 seasons. I worked for 3 seasons as a counselor, then worked for several years in the dot.com industry, then returned to summer camp as a head counselor this past summer.

It was such an incredible experience that I would like to explore career options in the summer camp industry.

I have discussed with some friends and colleagues the possibility of some day operating our very own residential camp.

That brings me to my problem: I have no idea where to start! We are a group of middle-class individuals in our late 20's.

What we bring to the table is years of camp experience, passion, dedication, and solid educational backgrounds. What we lack is adequate funding and specific knowledge of what it takes to obtain land, clear legal hurdles, recruit staff, etc.

So, is this a dream worth persuing? What are the barriers to entry and how can we overcome them? We're just looking to learn as much as possible and to be pointed in the right direction. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! \:\)
