Hi, just wondering when having an EMT/RN is required at a camp. I work as an EMT at a residential girl scout camp. We however have the last week where it is only day campers, the campers arrive at 8am and are leaving around 4pm, we only have about 4 staff who remain overnight. My question is, do we need an EMT there for that last week, or does someone with basic first aid cound? If you don't know the answer any place you can think of that would be able to answer? Thanks!

It depends on your state. Most states have no guidelines about camps. For ACA, rules depend on where your camp is located and how far you are from medical attention. For Girl Scouts/Safetywise, it depends on how many people; you would almost certainly just need someone with "advanced first aid", usually First Responder or something of the sort. The Girl Scout rules are likely going to be the strictest; you can check with your council's event-planning guidelines.

Does any have the web site for the ACA rule on RN or LPN or EMT at camps.
