Hi everyone!
I'm Jacqueline McDonough, M.Ed., Founder and Executive Director of Camp Jamison, a nonprofit overnight summer camp serving young people from Philadelphia since 2011.
We're searching for a new camp home for summer 2027 and beyond, and I'm hoping to connect with camp owners and directors interested in exploring a creative, long-term arrangement.
A little about us:
Camp Jamison has been operating for over 15 summers, providing affordable and inclusive overnight camp experiences for young people who might not otherwise have access to them.
We have an established camper community, an experienced leadership team, and a dedicated staff pipeline that includes former campers who have grown into counselors and leaders. In 2026, 82% of our staff returned.
We've also expanded our work through a residential summer partnership with one of the largest public school districts in the country, demonstrating our ability to manage multiple programs, serve different age groups, and operate at a larger scale.
We're considering three possibilities:
Plan A: A Long-Term Operating Partnership
Do you have a camp property that isn't currently operating, has a shorter summer season, or has unused capacity?
Let's talk about what working together could look like!
Camp Jamison brings an established camper base, experienced leadership, trained staff, and proven programming. What we're looking for is a property partner who sees the potential in building something together.
Ideally, we'd have exclusive use of a property for approximately 5–6 consecutive weeks each summer, with the opportunity to return year after year.
Plan B: Seasonal Rental Opportunities
If your camp operates its own summer program, we'd also be interested in discussing rental opportunities before or after your season.
We run two distinct summer programs and have flexibility to schedule them separately between June and August. We'd consider shorter rental periods if the dates and facilities align.
Plan C: Something We Haven't Thought of Yet!
Maybe you have a property, an idea, or an arrangement we haven't considered. Maybe there's an opportunity for two organizations to share resources, expand programming, or make better use of an existing camp property.
I'm open to creative conversations! If you see a possibility that doesn't fit neatly into Plan A or Plan B, I'd love to hear it.
Our ideal property:
- Location: Pennsylvania preferred, but open to NY, NJ, MD, and surrounding states. Ideally within 2–4 hours of Philadelphia.
- Capacity: Overnight accommodations for approximately 100–135 people.
- Sleeping accommodations: Cabins or lodges with indoor bathrooms and showers. We strongly prefer not to rely on separate bathhouses.
- Waterfront: Swimming is essential, and a lake with canoeing and kayaking would be ideal.
- Facilities: Dining hall, kitchen, sports fields, arts and crafts space, and traditional camp activity areas.
We're not looking to purchase property at this time. Our goal is to find a sustainable lease or operating relationship that allows Camp Jamison to continue growing while making meaningful use of an existing camp facility.
We know how to run camp. We have the campers, the staff, the experience, and the programming. Now we're looking for the right place to call home.
If you have a property that might be a fit, know someone who does, or have an idea we haven't considered, I'd love to connect!
