Camp Buc is situated in southwestern Transylvania County, southwest of Asheville, NC, about 3.5 miles north of the South Carolina state line. Quiet, serene, and private, this former camp property features a beautiful lake set in a large, open meadow, fed by a tumbling mountain stream and served by a lakeside boathouse and dock. Amenities include a large dining hall with a stone fireplace and commercial kitchen; a large lodge and pavilion overlooking the lake; eight small but well-appointed log-style guest cabins; a two-story 3-bedroom log house; a number of primitive camp-style cabins; two bath houses; and a caretaker’s cabin and large maintenance barn. Access is from Upper Whitewater Road between NC Hwy 281 and NC Hwy 64. The interior of the property is easily accessed by well-built, well-maintained private gravel roads and driveways, soil farm roads, and trails.
In addition to the lake and many streams on the property, the Thompson River flows through the property for nearly a mile. This riparian feature and associated wetland habitats make the property a great opportunity for a variety of conservation strategies.
